The basket form series evolved as I researched different methods in constructing vessel forms. Traditional metal raising techniques were labor intensive resulting in work that was impractical for the audience I was trying to reach. My work resembles baskets made in the traditional method using “spokes and weavers”. It begins with a sheet of brass cut to the center, then bending the spokes alternately to form the body. Details are often other metals (steel, stainless steel, copper and bronze) offering a contrast of colors.
